Inaugural Ladies Lunch

The inaugural IFGB Ladies Lunch took place on Friday 20th May at the iconic Ivy Restaurant in the fashionable Seven Dials area of Covent Garden, London. The sell out event started with a champagne reception, followed by a delicious 3 course lunch.

Prior to lunch Ruth McCarthy, IFGB Co-chair, welcomed the guests. Her speech included references to the Queen’s successful visit to Ireland and the announcement that Basil Geoghegan, her fellow Co-chair, had succeeded in his attempt to scale Mt Everest. So far his fundraising campaign has raised in excess of £40K, with all proceeds to The Forgotten Irish Appeal.

Alexandra Rhodes, Jewellery Expert from Sotheby’s, gave a fascinating presentation on “Jewels with great Provenance”, which told the story of some of the most famous collections of jewellery and their equally famous owners. The draw included tickets to Paul Costelloe’s Spring/Summer 2012 show at London Fashion Week in September, an Orla Kiely handbag and a spa break for two.

The IFGB is very grateful to all those who made this event such a success and looks forward to welcoming everyone back next year.
